Go Green with MEX
Environmental degradation has become a burning issue with each passing day. Everyday we see, hear and feel the effects of environmental degradation ranging from flooding and landslides to heat waves and acid rain. Much of the global community has started to respond to these changes and we at MEX have started a new initiative to respond to these climatic changes.
At MEX Nepal we care about our impact on the environment, so in honor of Earth Day 2010, we're announcing some new and exciting green initiatives that we're undertaking as a company. As one of the nation's fastest growing exchange, we believe in the importance of letting our clients understand our commitment to eco-friendly policies.

MEX Nepal New Green Data Centers:
We provide services to over 3000 end users with our data centers located at various places. That means a lot of servers, and a lot of carbon emissions. So we asked ourselves, what can we do to be part of the climate change solution? We took steps to minimize our environmental impact at the centers, but still we weren't satisfied. We have plans to switch to 36% more efficient servers. One of our core beliefs is that it's better to reduce than to simply offset, especially when it comes to energy consumption. It's a fact that large data centers are necessary to the operations of trading and the Exchange activities. It's also a fact that most data centers consume large amounts of energy and that more than half of that energy is utilized for cooling and air conditioning. That's why we've opened up the Go Green program; we planned to cut our cooling costs and to reduce our carbon output every year. We will keep trying our level best for being a green company. -
MEX Nepal environmental awareness program:
We at MEX believe that “too many cooks do not spoil the broth” when it comes to conserving our environment. In fact, we believe, that the saying “the more the merrier” aptly applies to our green program. For this purpose, we are launching various awareness programs within our working environment as well as among the general public. The program aims to not only recognize the importance of conserving the environment but also focuses on ways to reduce environmental degradation both within homes and inside working environments. -
MEX Nepal Planting Trees for the Future:
MEX Nepal has also partnered with, a non-profit organization dedicated to sustainable agro forestry. Through this partnership, we are providing for the planting of trees throughout the developing world. It's part of our overall eco-strategy, which calls for us to reduce our own consumption of resources while providing for the replacement and renewal of existing resources. Moreover, it's a strategy we're proud to pursue every day of the year, not just on Earth Day. -
Reduce –Reuse- Recycle
We at MEX recognize that our green initiative would not be fully complete without following the 3 R’s, Reduce –Reuse- Recycle. Hence, we have specific procedures in place to reduce wastage. For example, we encourage our staffs to avoid printing unless it is absolutely necessary. Likewise, we encourage our stakeholders to reuse as much as possible. Finally, we are also working actively with recycling plants to recycle our waste materials. Finally to ensure everyone does their bit in environmental conservation, we have listed some green initiations:• Unless its extreme emergency- No printing.• Switch off your system if you leave the system for more than 15 minutes.• Turn off your monitors when ever you leave your seat.• Those who are using vehicle will turn off the engine when waiting at signals.• Turn off the lights when you are going out of your cabin.• Open your window curtains for natural lighting.• Use Air Condition only when it’s extremely required.• Use only CFL lamps.• Keep air conditioner’s temperature always in 24 Degrees Celsius.• Avoid use of plastics and save our planet.• Plant or arrange to plant a tree, every year.• Promote environment awareness and take part in such awareness campaigns too.• Remove your mobile charger as soon as the battery is full.• Encouraging communications by email.• Reducing fax-related paper waste by using a fax-modem and by using a fax cover sheet only when necessary.• Producing double-sided documents when using photocopy and printing machine.• Not leaving taps dripping; always close them tightly after use.• Installing displacement toilet dams in toilet reservoirs.• Finding a supply of paper with maximum available recycled content.• Choosing suppliers who take back packaging for reuse.• Instigating an ongoing search for "greener" products and services in the local community.• Before deciding whether you need to purchase new office furniture, see if your existing office furniture can be refurbished.
